Legal obligation to provide data:
Following the gradual implementation of the 1990 Schengen Agreement, Portugal and most other EU countries have been implementing the agreement to prevent trafficking in human beings and other illegal practices.
Since 2015, Portugal has more strictly enforced the law on the accommodation of foreign citizens, which requires that any person who provides accommodation to non-Portuguese citizens, collects and communicates the details of entry, exit and identification of all foreign guests who use their accommodation.
The competent authority that monitors the movement of foreigners in Portugal is the Aliens and Borders Service - SEF.
In this case, it is specifically Article 45 of the Schengen Agreement and Articles 15 and 16 of Law No 23/2007, as amended by Law No. 102/2017, which govern this rule.
 
Required Information:
First name, Last name, Date of birth, Country of origin, Country of residence, Identification number, Identification type, Country of origin of the identification document.
