The Local accommodation establishments must fulfill fire safety rules, however such requirements vary depending on the capacity of each establishment.
What the law provides is that Local Accommodation establishments that have capacity greater than 10 users, must follow the terms laid down in Decree-Law No. 220/2008, of November 12laying down the legal regime for fire safety in buildings, abbreviated as SCIE, and the terms laid down in the technical regulation contained in Ordinance No. 1532/2008, of December 29th.
Local accommodation establishments which have capacity of 10 users or less, must have the following Safety requirements:
The) Fire extinguisher and blanket accessible to users;
B) First aid equipment accessible to users;
W) Indication of national emergency number (112) in visible location to users.
The owner of the local accommodation is entirely responsible for any expenses incurred with works performed in the common parts to adapt or license the leased for this purpose.
Fire extinguisher and blanket
According to indications of National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), which is the competent authority to ensure compliance with the Building Fire Safety Scheme (SCIE):
• THE extinguisher The use depends on the “type of fire” and ABC Chemical Powder (6Kg) or Additivated Water (5Kg) may be a good option.
• A fire blanket it must be sized according to the firing device on which it is intended to act.
• ANPC further recommends that, in terms of prevention, it is important that they be affixed to establishments preventive measures and safety instructions.
First aid kit
According to nominations of the Directorate-General for Health, a first-aid box must be marked with an appropriate label, white cross on green background, and should in its content consist, at least, the next:
• Compresses of different dimensions;
• Fast dressings;
• Adhesive roll;
• Non-elastic bandage;
• Antiseptic solution (single dose);
• Ethyl alcohol 70% (single dose);
• Saline; (unidose);
• Blunt point scissors;
• Tweezers;
• Latex disposable gloves.
It is further noted that, in addition to the foregoing content, it would be desirable for the workplaces to have a thermal blanket and a thermal ice bag.
Liability insurance
The holder of the local accommodation holding is jointly and severally with guests regarding their damage to the building where the unit is located.
You should therefore celebrate and maintain a valid multirisk liability insurance protect it from its assets and claims in the context of its tourist activity by determining the liability of the holder of the establishment fire and property and non-property damage caused to guests and third parties, arising from the activity of providing accommodation services.
Lack of valid insurance is grounds for cancellation of registration.
Fines
Non-compliance with safety requirements and lack of liability insurance are considered infractions punishable by fines that can go from € 125.00 to € 3.250.00 in the case of an individual, it's from € 1,250.00 to € 32,500.00 for legal persons.
