The recovery of post-pandemic tourism has been positive despite the sector having been affected by the war in Ukraine, which the president of the Confederation of Tourism of Portugal, Francisco Calheiros, called a perfect storm. Expectations for Easter are optimistic and it could constitute a resumption of tourism at a time when the numbers are already approaching those of 2019, “the year in which records were broken in the tourism sector, with 27 million tourists in terms of air connectivity” advanced to ECO the president of Portugal tourism, Luis Araujo.
April actually marks a new future for tourism in Portugal, and this month the number of tickets that were issued for Portugal increased by 500% compared to 2021, according to the ECO Luís Araújo, president of the Portugal tourism.
However, the hotel industry admits price increases of 10% to compensate for the increase in energy costs, as a result of the war in Eastern Europe.
Expectations of recovery extend to local accommodation, as March was already a month of growth and Easter could then be an important milestone for the sector.
It should be noted that the Spanish, Germans, Italians and Dutch put Lisbon first as the main destination among Portuguese cities. The French choose Porto, while the English prefer Faro, according to data from the flight and hotel search engine jet cost.
